Maintaining good mental health
In order to maintain good mental health we need to have a sense of:
control over our lives
friendship and intimacy with other people
being connected to the community or something larger than ourselves
competency and achievement
status - knowing we are valued in every area of our lives
security - knowing we can lead our lives without fear
In order for us to develop and maintain our needs we must have the aility to:
build relationships and empathy with others
use our powerful imagination
problem solve, to plan and adapt as and when required
understand how and why react the way we do to certain situations

be objective, look at situations in new and different ways
learn and remember
When our needs are not met then we experience an imbalance in our mental health and well-being which affects our everyday lives. Perhaps you need help with building up or expanding your resources, or you may need help in identifying what needs require more support. You may be surprised to learn that you will probably only require a small adjustment to your needs or resources to regain your sense of mental health and well-being.
